Stitch Express supports a range of South African business types. To open your account we need to verify who you are and confirm a few details about your business. Most of this is captured directly in the sign-up flow, and depending on your business profile we may also ask you to upload supporting documents.
The sign-up flow will always tell you exactly what is needed for your account. This article gives you an overview so you can have everything ready.
What every business provides
Whatever your business type, you will be asked to enter the following during sign-up:
- Your South African ID number (for each director, member, partner or owner we need to verify)
- A quick selfie and liveness check to confirm your identity
- Your business address
- The bank account your payouts should be settled to
- Your CIPC registration number, if your business is registered with CIPC
We can only onboard businesses that are based in South Africa, and registered businesses must be registered with CIPC.
Supporting documents we may ask for
Depending on your business profile, we may ask you to upload some or all of the documents below. Being asked for documents is a normal part of our verification process and does not mean there is a problem with your application. If we do need something from you, we will let you know in the sign-up flow or by email, and you can upload it directly in your dashboard.

If we ask for more information
We may request additional information or documents at any point, including after your account is active and you have started transacting. This is part of keeping Stitch Express safe for everyone who uses it, and we will always tell you clearly what we need.
