Your terminal needs an internet connection to process payments. Wi-Fi is the preferred connection method, but a SIM card can also be used as a fallback.
If your terminal isn’t connecting to Wi-Fi, here are the most common causes:
- The Wi-Fi password was entered incorrectly
- The router is too far from the terminal or the signal is weak
- The network is blocking the terminal’s connection to the payment server
- The terminal’s clock is out of sync, which can cause connection errors
Step by step
- Open the Settings menu on your terminal.
- Go to Wi-Fi and select your network.
- Re-enter your Wi-Fi password carefully - it’s case-sensitive.
- Make sure your router is switched on and within range.
- If the terminal shows a network error after connecting, clear the app cache and restart the terminal.
- If Wi-Fi isn’t available, you can use a SIM card for mobile data instead. SIM cards are available as an add-on from Stitch.
If you’ve followed these steps and the terminal still won’t connect, your network may be blocking HTTPS traffic. Contact Stitch support and we’ll help you troubleshoot.
