If a card payment was successful on the terminal but the corresponding order in Shopify still shows as unpaid, this usually means the system couldn’t automatically update the order.
This can happen when:
- The Shopify POS app had a brief connectivity issue at the time of payment
- The Shopify Admin API was temporarily unavailable
- The Stitch Express app on Shopify was uninstalled and reinstalled (which invalidates API tokens)
What to do
- Don’t worry - the payment has been captured and the money is safe.
- You will see the payment was successful on the terminal
- Check your Stitch Express dashboard at express.stitch.money to confirm the payment is recorded.
- In Shopify, manually mark the order as paid if needed.
- If this happens repeatedly, contact Stitch support - there may be a configuration issue that needs attention.
Good to know: Even when the order status doesn’t update automatically, the payment itself is fully processed and will appear in your settlement as normal.
