Apple Pay and Google Pay are switched on by default for every Stitch Express merchant. If a customer doesn't see them, it's almost always because of their device or browser, not your settings.
Who sees which wallet
- Apple Pay shows on iPhone, iPad and Mac in Safari. On other desktop browsers, customers can scan a QR code to pay with Apple Pay on their iPhone.
- Google Pay shows on Android phones with Google Wallet set up and a card saved. It does not show on desktop. In Chrome, the customer needs a card saved in their Google account, and some password managers can stop it showing.
On Shopify
Shopify Payments isn't available in South Africa, so Apple Pay and Google Pay don't appear as express buttons on your product, cart or Shopify checkout pages. Customers choose Stitch Express at checkout and see the wallets on the Stitch payment page.
To make it clear the wallets are available, rename the payment method:
- Install the Stitch Express Checkout app from the Shopify App Store.
- Click Create Customisation.
- Set a display name, for example "Card, Apple Pay & Google Pay". Stitch Express will show first in your list of payment methods, with the new name.
On WooCommerce and payment links
Wallets appear automatically on the Stitch payment page for customers on supported devices. You don't need to set anything up.
Fraud checks
Stitch runs fraud checks on every transaction, and these can hide a wallet for some payments, for example higher-value orders. The customer can still pay by card. If a wallet consistently doesn't show for customers who should see it, email express-support@stitch.money and we'll take a look.
